clematis-brachiata1What pure joy…On driving into Kasouga on our way to 3 Barrack Lane…What did I see?  but the first bunches of sweetly scented creamy-white flowers, with their conspicuous tuft of yellow stamens, of the indigenous climber TRAVELLER’S JOY (Clematis brachiata).

This lovely, hardy climber rambles over anything…often completely covering shrubs along side the road in mounds of white of up to 5m square.

We stop the car, wind down the windows and just breathe in the fragrance of this truely lovely creeper….Is nature not wonderful?…and we have the pleasure of sharing this joy from our accommodation at 3 Barrack Lane.
